Frequently asked questions

Who is the Practitioner level designed for?
This course is built for professionals with some exposure to insurance or re-insurance (typically 2–5 years) who want to apply sustainability concepts in real work scenarios. It’s relevant for underwriting, risk, product, claims, portfolio/investment support, compliance, sustainability teams, brokers, and consultants working with insurers.
Do I need advanced maths, actuarial modelling, or climate science knowledge?
No. The Practitioner level is applied and practical. You’ll learn the concepts, workflows, and tools used in climate/nature risk and insurance decision-making without requiring advanced maths. If you can follow basic insurance terms, you’ll be fine.
What sustainability frameworks are covered in this course?
You’ll work with frameworks and disclosure concepts used in the insurance ecosystem, including TCFD and TNFD (including TNFD LEAP thinking), and you’ll learn how CSRD context affects expectations and reporting conversations. The emphasis is “what it means in practice” for insurers and reinsurers.
Will I learn about sustainable and parametric insurance products?
Yes. You’ll learn how sustainable product thinking shows up in insurance design, including the fundamentals of parametric insurance (triggers, basis risk, and common structures) and how these solutions are used in climate-vulnerable contexts and resilience programs.
Is the course practical, or mostly theory?
It’s designed to be practical. The learning style includes workshops, case studies, and templates that help you apply concepts to underwriting-style assessment, product design decisions, and disclosure readiness.
Is there a capstone or final project?
Yes. The Practitioner level typically ends with a capstone-style application where you bring the learning together—climate/nature risk, product/disclosure context, and insurance/re-insurance considerations—into a realistic scenario.
